Website
This policy covers this website, our client portal, and the information you share with us when you contact us or use our design, website, hosting, domain and email services.
Information we collect
We only collect what we need to reply to you and to do the work you ask us to do.
Information you give us
- Briefs and enquiries. Your name, email address, phone number (optional), the service you are interested in and your message when you use our contact form.
- Messages. Anything you send us by email, phone or WhatsApp.
- Client details. Contact and billing details for you and your business, plus the content and files you supply for a project, such as logos, text and images.
- Domains, hosting and email. The registrant details that domain registries require, and the account details we need to set up and support your hosting, email and client portal access.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data. Like most websites, our server records standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device and the pages you request. We use it to keep the site secure and working.
- Cookies. A small number of essential cookies, listed under Cookies below.
We don’t knowingly collect special personal information, such as health, religious or biometric information. Please don’t send it to us unless we specifically need it for your project.
How we use it
We use your personal information to:
- reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote;
- plan, deliver and support your project, website, hosting, domain or email services;
- send invoices, keep proper accounting records and meet our legal and tax obligations;
- send service messages, such as renewal reminders, maintenance notices and support replies;
- protect our website and services from spam, fraud and abuse.
We only send marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, or if you are an existing client and the message is about services similar to the ones you already use. You can opt out of marketing at any time. We never sell your personal information.
We process personal information when you have consented, when it is needed to carry out an agreement with you (or to take steps you ask for before one), when the law requires it, or when it serves a legitimate interest, such as answering your enquiry or keeping our systems secure.
Who we share it with
We only share personal information when it is needed for the purposes above, and only with:
- Hosting and email providers that run this website, our client portal and our email.
- Google. Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block spam, which sends information about your device and how you use the page to Google for analysis. This site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser shares your IP address with Google. Google’sPrivacy Policyexplains how it uses this information.
- WhatsApp (Meta), when you choose to message us on WhatsApp.
- Domain registries and registrars, such as ZACR for .co.za domains, when we register or manage a domain for you.
- Partners and subcontractors who work with us on your project. They receive only what they need, and we require them to keep it confidential.
- Advisers and service providers that help us run the business, such as our accountant and bank.
- Authorities, when the law requires us to.
Information sent outside South Africa
Some of the providers above, including Google and Meta, store or process information outside South Africa. We only use providers that are bound by laws, binding corporate rules or agreements that protect your information to a standard comparable to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We don’t use advertising or analytics tracking cookies. This site only uses:
- PHPSESSID. A session cookie set by our server to keep the site working while you browse. It normally expires when you close your browser.
- breakdance_view_count, breakdance_session_count and breakdance_last_session_id. Set by our website platform to count page views and visits on your device. They stay in your browser and are not used for advertising.
- Session storage (ps-boot). Remembers that you have already seen the opening animation on our home page, so it doesn’t replay during your visit. It clears when you close the tab.
- Google reCAPTCHA (contact page only). May set or read cookies to tell people and bots apart.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, but the contact form may not send if reCAPTCHA is blocked.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, spam protection on our forms, password-protected accounts with limited access, and keeping our software up to date. No system is completely secure. If we believe your personal information has been accessed without authorisation, we will tell you and the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it for, or for as long as the law requires. For example, invoices and accounting records are kept for the period tax law prescribes. Enquiries that don’t lead to work are deleted once we no longer need them. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request a copy of it;
- ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading or unlawfully obtained;
- object to us processing your information, including for direct marketing;
- withdraw your consent at any time (this doesn’t affect processing that already took place);
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
To use any of these rights, email info@pixeri.co.za. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act on a request, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
Children
Our website and services are meant for businesses and adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
Other websites
Our website links to other websites, such as client websites in our portfolio, WhatsApp and Google. We aren’t responsible for how those sites handle your information, so please read their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will let our clients know.
